Tim Deese started as
a salesman of an independent used car
lot in 1971, after 4 years of military
service.
Tim was then picked
up by a New Car Dealership as their Used
Car manager.
He became General Sales
Manager in 6 months.
After that Tim moved
to Atlanta as General Manager of one of
the largest General Motors dealerships
in Atlanta.
He bought his first
New Car dealership, all before his 27th
birthday.
In 1981, Tim sold both
franchises. He came up with an idea for
an import SUV and designed and developed
it on his own. This vehicle was the Trail
Hustler, known today as the Nissan Pathfinder.
It was built under contract with Nissan
for two years with Tim as Designer, Engineer,
manufacturer and CEO of International
Coach. After completing the Nissan contract
patent agreement, Tim then began to focus
all his energy on Progressive Basics.
In 1986, he picked
up his first New Car Manager Training
contract with BMW of North America.
Tim set into place
a Certified Pre-owned Program that would
benchmark the outline of all Certified
Programs to come. Among those he wrote
were: BMW of U.S. and Canada, Lexus, VW,
Audi of U.S. and Canada, Saab Cars of
U.S.A., Honda of Canada, BMW of the Middle
East, Ford of the Middle East and Chrysler
of Mexico. All of this was accomplished
before his 40th birthday.
For the past 25 years,
Tim Deese and his company have been involved
with 15 manufacturers and 40,000 students
in 28 countries. He is still active and
reviews all materials and all Progressive
Basics programs.
Tim has spoken at NADA
and to more foreign and state dealer associations
and 20 groups than any other trainer.
There is no position
in the automotive industry, from the wash
rack to manufacturing his own vehicle,
that Tim Deese has not done.
